EGGS!!!

I started getting eggs last week. I have been so excited and I go out to the hen house about every 2

two or three hours to check to see if I have an egg. I usually get one in the late morning. So the one on the left is the one from today. It is significatly bigger than the last five. They all seem to be the same color so I beieve it is either Lucy or Ethal, one of the Rhode Island Reds that is laying. I give them all a pep talk after I collect the one egg and tell them thank you and please would the other girls start laying now?

I only have nine hens and one rooster now. Thelma turned out to be a rooster and she went to live at my friend's plant nursery. Wilmer now rules the roost for the time being.

So now that I can publish posts I seem to have hit the wrong button and hit the button too fast. So I will close for now with more to follow later. Tata.

Love fresh eggs... looking for eggs is a bit like checking once in a while to see if you've received any blog post comments! Always nice when you find one! :-)

We have a Rhode Island Red that lays huge beautiful eggs. But one of my hens ( I don't know who) lays the teeniest, tiniest eggs I ever did see. They are so small you would need to break at least 5 of them to make a fried egg sandwich. Once you have eaten fresh eggs, you can never go back to store-boughts, don't you agree?

Love your blog. You were smart to find Thelma the rooster a new home. I have 8 hens now and 1 rooster. I have to be very mindful of him. He is beautiful, but will attack me. We did pull his spurs off.
